About the
Co-Occurring Mom

My wonderful daughter developed both a mental health disorder and poly-substance use disorder in her teen years, which then progressed into her 20's. I created this website to provide advice and support to parents of young adults who also have co-occurring disorders, as I struggled to find information and support myself.

I am not a doctor, a mental health professional, nor an addiction specialist. What I am is a mother with lived experience. I know that navigating the exhausting and confusing web of disconnected medical providers, rehabs and insurance companies is an uphill battle. I hope that sharing what I learned can help others avoid some of my missteps and to level-set expectations for the best chance at success.
