Support for Parents of Young Adults With Co-Occurring Disorders

About

Why I Created This Site

To help other parents of young adult children with both mental health and substance use disorders.

To share what I learned about positively communicating and connecting with your loved one—even during challenging times.

To honor my beautiful, forever-22 daughter who was very open about being in recovery and to continue her desire to help others.

What's a
Co-Occurring Disorder?

A person that has both a mental health disorder and a substance use disorder is referred to as having a co-occurring disorder (also sometimes referred to as dual diagnosis).

What I Learned

My daughter's mental health and substance use issues first surfaced in late middle school, but everything didn't really come to a critical point until she was 18, and by then, a legal adult. I learned so many things through trial and error, so I wanted to share what I learned in the hopes that it might help other parents struggling through the same journey.
